My name's Matt and I’m a filmmaker living in Toronto. I spent a good chunk of 2011 directing commercials in what may or may not be cities from Where in the World Is Carmen San Diego?—Buenos Aires, Moscow, Kiev, Gdansk. (If they ever make a Carmen San Diego movie, Forest Whitaker should chase David Morse through the shipyards of old Gdansk! Doug Liman will direct.) In between ads, I hammered away at a new screenplay, did a short film for Greenpeace and a music video for Fucked Up.
This year so far I’ve been hunkered down in my west end cube—screenplay, screenplay, screenplay! At the time of this posting (March 2012), I am raring to hit the streets, armed with a camera and a tascam recorder, some extra batteries, gum, to remind myself why I got into this crazy racket in the first place. Whether it's a commercial, short film, music vid, or even your experimental wedding video, the goal's the same: tell killer stories with killer people. Hella corny, I know, but true.
Pop me an email. Let's make movies, friendo!
